Healing Philosophy
Healing Journey at Romeo and the Crow
At Romeo and the Crow, your healing journey focuses on your stories and how you tell them, within a safe, courageous & daring, and non-judgmental environment. Therapy interventions are tailored to each individual case, utilizing an eclectic approach: Solution Focused Attachment Narrative Therapy (SFANT). This approach combines exercises, interventions, and processes from various therapy models to appropriately match each client's unique difficulties and needs.
Human experience primarily consists of thoughts (cognition), feelings (emotions), and behaviors (behavioral responses/reactions). These elements are the building blocks of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Many professionals and therapy seekers mistakenly believe that CBT is the only approach to achieve improvements. However, the reality is that not everyone is in touch with or aware of these aspects of their personhood. While these can be taught by a therapist, some individuals might not naturally benefit from CBT as the sole method for change. At this clinic, therapist prioritizes understanding the characteristics of each service seeker to determine which approach would be most effective. This is why the use of the eclectic approach mentioned earlier.
Additionally, the importance of paying attention to sensations and physiological changes in human experiences, alongside the three basic elements of CBT, is increasingly valued in treatment approaches. This fits within the exploration embedded in SFANT, the eclectic approach used at Romeo and the Crow.
This method enhances the effectiveness of the therapy process and relies on the client's engagement and consistent efforts to make change happen. Remember, change occurs through your actions. A therapist acts like a movie/theatre director, helping you understand and articulate your difficulties, then your needs in form of therapy goals, and then inspire you about what you can put in place or how to meet those needs/make those changes happen.
Part of this process involves developing and improving your self-management skills for inner growth. This includes enhancing skills such as critical thinking, processing and responding with compassionate acceptance, and committing to the changes you decide upon. This way, the results are long-lasting and tangibly felt in various forms, such as increased awareness of difficulties and their complex interconnections and layers. You will be guided to learn how to stop reactions that do not help but worsening your difficulties, and then choose more effective responses to your articulated needs and difficulties. Remember, it all starts by you telling your stories, one story at a time.
